Oil Temperature

Engine oil temperature. Oil breaks down at high temperatures, reducing its ability to protect engine internals.

Why it matters

Oil above 280F begins to lose viscosity and protective properties. Track and drag use can push oil temps dangerously high.

What to look for

Normal is 200-260F. Above 280F is a warning. Above 300F is critical and requires an oil cooler upgrade.
