EGTTemperatures
Exhaust Gas Temperature
Temperature of exhaust gases. Extremely high EGT indicates lean fueling, excessive timing, or insufficient cooling.
Why it matters
High EGT can damage the turbo, catalytic converter, and exhaust components. It is an indicator of combustion health.
What to look for
EGT varies by engine but generally above 1,600F is a warning. Sustained above 1,800F is critical.
